Elisa Sumner proposes to abolish the IDCAt our last meeting our august Vice Chair, Elisa Sumner, led the Progressive Caucus in a rousing discussion of what are key steps in actually moving forward real progress in New York State. The Caucus’ conclusion: abolish the IDC.

Elisa made it clear how unhappy real Democrats are with the IDC’s continuing relationship with the Republicans, by winning a Executive Committee vote opposing IDC Caucus Leader  Jeff Klein’s nomination as Party Vice Chair.  You can read more of the press regarding that brazen actions here, and hear a terrific interview that Elisa did with Susan Arbetter (on iTunes), succinctly explaining the purposes of her opposition, which is that those who claim the mantle of the Democrats should also stand for its values, rather than obstruct passage of laws that would enable those values.
