We are delighted to announce that the NYS Democratic Committee Progressive Caucus upcoming meeting in Rye Brook NY, at the Westchester Hilton, on October 21st, will host Assemblymember Deborah Glick discussing the 2013 Women’s Equality Act proposed by Governor Cuomo. Last session, the bill passed in the Assembly and failed in the Senate, in part due to the resistance of the so-called Independent Caucus. Assemblymember Glick, a long-time champion of women’s issues, helped lead the successful passage of this legislation in the Assembly. She will be giving us an overview on what is contained within the bill, why it is so important for women in New York, and what we can do to ensure passage in the Senate.
In addition, we will be considering several State Committee resolutions that NYS Progressive Caucus members have authored, including a Resolution in Support of Family Leave Insurance drafted by Debra Cooper, and a Resolution To Oppose the Chained Consumer Price Index drafted by Lori Gardner. If you click on the titles of these resolutions you will find the full text of the resolution, as well as its author’s email at the end. Debra and Lori are still seeking co-signatories so please sign with your A.D. and return it to them at your earliest convenience.
All are welcome at Progressive Caucus meetings – we look forward to seeing everyone in Ryebrook.
